With this, many people have used different natural and effective means to manage the pain and discomfort that having this condition brings them.
You’ve probably never thought that you can use the inconspicuous green plant, common plantain (Plantago major) to cure hemorrhoids. After all, it is so common that this perennial weed is just often found anywhere, be it in meadows or even roadsides. You’ve probably seen or removed one in your lawn without knowing it.
Here are some things you should know about hemorrhoids and how they can be managed using the common plantain.
Its Latin name is plantago major (from the plantaginaceae family). Its common names are: common plantain, broadleaf plantain and greater plantain.
If you’re not familiar with the common plantain, it’s a plant that has yellowish roots, radial leaves, and several flowery spikes. The leaves are smooth, and about four to ten inches long. Another common marker is its fruit, which contains 4 to 16 seeds in total. Its leaves are quite bitter and salty in taste, while the roots are sweet.
In what forms is the common plantain consumed?
To treat hemorrhoids, different parts of the common plantain, such as the leaves, roots, and spikes are used. It can be consumed fresh, but it is mostly often sold as dried, extracts, oil, and other forms of preparation. Rich in vitamins A, K, and C, the common plantain is used as food supplements, so it is sold in health markets, drug stores, and supermarkets as supplements, and these commercial forms are most often potent because they are concentrated already.
How is the common plantain prepared as medication?
Use two cups of hot or boiling water and pour on thirty grams of the herb, and let it stand for about twenty minutes. Strain the leaves, and allow the liquid to cool. You should then drink half a cup of the liquid three to four times daily to attain the best results. Meanwhile, if you are using the seeds, boil 30 grams of the seeds in three cups of water, and create a syrupy mixture by adding enough quantities of sugar, based on your liking. Take three to four tablespoon of the solution per day.
The use of herbal medications to treat common conditions, such as hemorrhoids has been around for many years. Though, you should take extreme caution when planning to take the plantain (Plantago major) to cure hemorrhoids, as you might get the wrong plant, and who knows that this plant can pose harmful health risks to you.
